Forum Background
Welcome to the era of Nutritional Medicine! ARE YOU READY FOR IT?
Nutritional Medicine represents a new era in medicine and health. With 80% or more healthcare spending tied to the treatment of conditions rooted in poor diet choices, the time is now for transforming health and redefining healthcare based on the science that overwhelmingly supports the efficacy of Nutritional Medicine.
“Nutritional Medicine”-related includes diet, nutrients, lifestyle, environmental, societal, behavior and other factors. The era of Nutritional medicine will play an important role in preventing and treating themost dreaded diseases especially chronic diseases. Chronic diseases are now the leading cause of death and disability in the world. Chronic diseases and conditions such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and arthritis are among the most common, costly, and preventable of all health problems. As we know, many chronic diseases can not only rely on traditional medical methods to solve, but it can be combined with Nutritional Medicine for prevention and even reversing some of our most feared causes of death and disability. Nutritional Medicine provides an opportunity to improve the human health, reduce health care costs and support economic development inthe county.
Therefore, The National Public Nutrition Improvement Project Office, the China Health Industry Alliance, the International Society of NaturopathicMedicine and the American Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine are to hold the 1st International Forum on Nutrition Medicine (IFNM) on October 27-29,2017, in China. IFNM 2017 will feature evidence-based content, tools and resources to aid physicians, dietitians and other allied health professionals in their ability to put Nutritional Medicine into action.
1st IFNM will explore gut-brain connection and will gather the most valuable experts, physicians, and other forward-thinking healthcare organizations from around the world to Nutritional Medicine, share best practice and discuss innovative solutions to Autism issues.
New understanding about gut-brain axis gives new treatment opportunities in Autism. For example, the ability of gut microbiota to communicate with the brain is emerging as an exciting concept in Autism. Studies suggest that gut microbes may help shape normal neural development, brain biochemistry, and behavior. There are still many mysteries when it comes to understanding how the microbiome might affect the brain. If research is able to solve it, the microbiota-brain axis could be a powerful target for influencing mood and behavior, for example in anxiety and depression, as well as preventing or treating brain-related diseases, including Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’sdisease, and Autism.
IFNM 2017 will outline the role Nutritional Medicine has to play in understanding the brain–gut–microbiome axis, with a focus on Autism and the use of Nutritional Medicine in research and clinical. Also, the summit will bring together healthcare stakeholders to learn about and discuss innovative approaches that integrate Nutritional Medicine strategies in Autism.
